Gary Mulcahey to return to UK
The Jason Roberts Foundation has announced that Caribbean Development Manager , Gary Mulcahey will be leaving the Foundation and seeking a new challenge back in the United Kingdom at the end of March 2011.
Gary Mulcahey was recruited in April 2008 to deliver programmes and activities on the Island of Grenada, on behalf of the Foundation, and in his role as Development Manager, he has assisted and helped to develop some of the innovative programmes to the local people of the Spice Isle. Some of the highlights of the last three years for the Jason Roberts Foundation have been the Floodlight sessions, the visit of the Liverpool Legends in 2009 and last year’s National Youth Premier League involving over 70 teams from all over Grenada and Carriacou.
Otis Roberts, Chief Executive of the JRF commented “Gary has worked hard in helping to deliver the Foundations objectives and activities on the Island. He has been extremely resourceful and immersed himself in the culture of Grenada. We thank him for his services over the last three years. The foundation will continue to deliver a wide range of exciting projects in 2011, starting in May/June with various members of Blackburn Rovers FC staff visiting the island to support our summer initiatives. And we look forward to continuing our productive relationship with sponsors and stakeholders on the island.”
Gary Mulcahey explained“After three years on this beautiful Island, I have decided that I need a new challenge back in England. I have had a terrific experience here with the Foundation and have enjoyed the challenges and the culture in Grenada immensely. I would like to thank the people of Grenada for making me feel so welcome. I will still be a frequent visitor to the Isle of Spice in years to come.
Jason Roberts, MBE, Chairman of the JRF said “I would like to thank Gary for his efforts over the last 3 years and wish him well in the future. It was always our long term intention to localise the project in Grenada and empower the Grenadian people to run the programmes in all of the parishes. I look forward to visiting the island in the coming months and working closely with our local partners. I intend to get more involved and hands-on with the programmes in readiness for my return home.”
