Danielle Moore from Accrington, Lancashire has taken up the challenge to run in the Windsor half-marathon on Sunday 25^th September, to raise money for the Jason Roberts Foundation.

Danielle contacted the Foundation via JustGiving.com earlier this year to say that she was entering the half marathon and wanted to donate the money she raised, to the Foundation.

The Windsor Half Marathon has been running since 2000 and over the years has raised over £340,000 for charity, with the proceeds from this year’s race going to CRASH – the building industry charity for the homeless, and the Prince Philip Trust.

The Moore family including Danielle, her husband and their two children, are all big Rovers fans.  For some time Danielle has wanted to do more to contribute to charity or the local community, but with a demanding job she can’t always commit the time.
 
Before taking part in Race for Life 5K run with friends for Cancer Research, and last years’ Windsor 8K run with her friend from work, Asa, Danielle had never done any running before. But now at the age of 46 she has got the running bug!  Danielle said; “I was looking for a way to challenge myself a little more, and recently the same friend who ran with me in last year’s 8K run suggested (over a bottle of wine) that this year we do the Windsor half-marathon.  Maybe it was the wine, but somehow I agreed – and in front of witnesses!”

Danielle’s son who is 18 and a big Jason Roberts fan, is helping her train for the event, and he told her about the Jason Roberts Foundation and suggested that she raise money for the charity.  Danielle commented; “We were really impressed with the charity's aims, particularly the opportunities for young people to participate in learning programmes, in addition to the sports and cultural activities.”
