Jason Roberts Foundation to launch Health & Community Hub
The Jason Roberts Foundation is pleased to announce the official launch of their Health and Community hub based in The Mall Pavilions shopping centre in Uxbridge. To celebrate the opening of their new hub, the Foundation is hosting a launch event in association with DASH (Disablement Association Hillingdon) on Sunday 18th September from 11 – 3 pm where Blackburn Rovers star Jason Roberts, will be joined by other Premiership players. The day – which is open to everyone - will feature a speed cage competition, face-painting, pamper sessions, light refreshments and music will be provided by Hayes FM Radio and a live steel band. The Foundation was delighted to be chosen by The Mall Uxbridge as their charity of choice in 2010/11 for their “Mall Cares” social responsibility programme. Earlier this year the Foundation was provided with a retail space in the Mall, as a community base from which fund raising educational programmes and events can be organised and delivered. The Foundation has already teamed up with Herbalife and Wallace Cameron, an organisation experienced in first aid training, to plan and deliver an exciting programme of health enhancing fundraising activities and events. The Jason Roberts Foundation was established to educate and develop socially disadvantaged children through participation in sport and sports education. The Foundation already runs a number of successful programmes for able and disabled bodied boys and girls in some of the most deprived areas in London. Continued delivery of these programmes and expansion to other deserving target areas depends on sponsorship and fundraising by the Foundation, and the retail space in the Mall will provide an ideal outlet for fund raising activities to be delivered from. Otis Roberts, CEO of the Foundation said, “Since the Liverpool Legends Charity Match we held at Hayes last year, when The Mall at Uxbridge supported the Foundation by promoting the game and selling tickets, the Foundation has developed a close relationship with the Management and staff of The Mall.” He added, “We were therefore delighted to have been chosen as their charity of choice in 2010/11 and to have been provided with this retail space. Following our appeal earlier this year, we have received some great support from local businesses to enable us to convert the space into an attractive training area, office and retail unit. We still have further improvements to make so that we can run programmes from the unit and generate a health stream of funding for the Foundation, and we would welcome any offer of materials, labour and support from local businesses and companies.” Andrew Davy, Manager of The Mall, Uxbridge commented, “We are delighted to be working with the Jason Roberts Foundation. They will bring much needed energy to this area of The Mall Uxbridge. As a community and value shopping centre the Foundations aims and objectives fit very closely with our own.” For more information or if you are able to help in any way please phone the Foundation on 07900803905 or email info@jasonrobertsfoundation.org If you would like to read more about the work of the Foundation please visit the website www.jasonrobertsfoundation.com
