Great start to Family Fitness Programme … despite the weather!
The Jason Roberts Foundation Family Health & Fitness Programme – funded by the Premier League & PFA Community Fund – which launched in April, has got off to a great start…despite the rain! Local families in the Brent area have enjoyed a wide range of sporting and fitness activities – including short tennis, cricket, football and some non-contact boxing–all led by qualified coaches.
The families’ line up for some non-contact sparring with the coaches The Family Health & Fitness programme will deliver a number of initiatives promoting healthy, active lifestyles amongst young people and their families and will encourage families to participate in sporting activities together – increasing the quality time they spend together.
Children enjoying a game of short tennis Otis Roberts, Chief Executive of the Foundation and one of the coaches on the programme has been inspired by the reaction of the participating families. He said “It has been really encouraging to see the number of families who have taken part in our programme to date and the feedback I have received has been very positive. Some parents have come along thinking they are just going to watch their children but we have quickly encouraged them to join in with the activities – and they keep coming back for more!”
